Fall League 2024

Starts September 24th, 2024 (concludes ~ November 12th 2024)

THE FORMAT THIS FALL WILL BE GREENSOMS MATCH PLAY FOR ALL LEAGUES

Dues

SR200 per team for the season, paid directly to the proshop (please note this is non-refundable should a team withdraw for any reason after the start of Round 1). SR20 payout for the winning team each week and SR10 to each team for a draw. Season ending payout of remainder of funds for podium placed teams.  All payouts are deposited into the individuals proshop account.

Teams

Teams will consist of a maximum of three (3) players, two (2) primary players and one (1) secondary player. The team’s two primary players will be the default players each week.  Teams who have only nominated two persons will be allowed to utilize a substitute player any given week. Any player with a valid RHGC handicap but not a member of a team that is already in the league can be utilized as a substitute.

If a three person team intends to play a secondary player, or a substitute player is required for any team, this must be declared by close of business on the Sunday before the scheduled Tuesday game to allow time for Tournament Manager to be updated.

There will be no limit as to how many matches a primary or secondary player may or may not play during the course of the league.

League Schedule & Points

A Team will earn 1pt for a win and 0.5pts for a halve. In the event teams are tied at the end of the league, rankings will be determined by the team with the best head-to-head record, then by the team with the least loses, followed by the team with the least number of wins. If teams still can’t be separated, teams will share their position in the league.

Rescheduling

It will be the responsibility of the individual teams to reschedule any match that can’t be played at the scheduled time.  If one team is unable to reschedule (as they are available at the originally scheduled date/time), then the team wishing to reschedule has three options:

  1. Find a substitute player if it's only one player on a team that isn't able to play at the originally scheduled date/time (preferred option)
  2. Forfeit the match

If both teams agree to reschedule, please advise the Coordinator (David Bedford) by email (daivd.bedford@aramco.com or david.bedford4@icloud.com) by close of business Sunday, in order to make the necessary adjustments in Golf Genius and make the necessary tee time adjustments.

Any matches not played by 23.59 on Sunday, November 17th will be forfeited by the team deemed not to have been able to field a team. If a consensus is not reached between the teams as to what team could not field a team, the Coordinator will make a ruling and this ruling will be final.

Format Explained

The format is hole by hole match play, so it is appropriate to concede the hole at any time to assist with pace-of-play.

Greensomes:
This format is a variation of foursomes (alternate shot) in which a team of two players play a single ball alternately after selecting the preferred tee shot of the team.

Both partners play a tee shot at each hole from their designated tee, then the team selects a single ball to continue, and the partner of the player whose ball is chosen plays the next shot. The partners then alternate playing that single ball until it is holed, or the hole is conceded.

If both players hit tee shots that may be lost or OB then each player may hit a provisional ball from the partners tee box. (The provisional takes into account the rotation of the shots, this only affects mixed teams)

The addition of a penalty stroke does not affect the order of play or the rotation (e.g., player A hits the ball OB from the fairway, player B drops and plays the next shot).

TEE Boxes
Blue league will play from the blue tees for men and yellow tees for women
White league will play from the white tees for men and red tees for Ladies

Handicaps

Handicaps are calculated using the Handicap Index of the players as at 9am on the day of play.

Greensomes:
Team Handicaps are calculated by taking the sum of sixty (60%) percent of the lowest handicap player’s RHGC 9-hole handicap plus forty (40%) percent of the other players RHGC 9-hole handicap (i.e. (60% low handicap + 40% high handicap)).

The team with the lower handicap allowance will play at scratch and their opponents will play with a handicap equal to the difference between the team handicap allowances.

Example Match: You must have a 2 person team to play the match. You cannot play this format with only one person on a team.

Team A has 2 players Billy (blue 9-hole hc 1) and Bob (blue 9-hole hc 4)
Team A hc will be (60% x 1) + (40% x 4) = 2

Team B has 2 players Jimmy (blue 9-hole hc 3) and Ray (blue 9-hole hc 5)
Team B hc will be (60% x 3) + (40% x 5) = 4

The teams would play a match with team A giving team B (4-2) = 2 strokes.
On the front nine that would be on holes 3 and 9.

Reporting Match Results

Golf Genius should be utilized during the course of play.

However, in the event Tournament Manager is not working or can’t be used for some reason, teams should calculate their handicaps for the match and report the result of the match by email to david.bedford@aramco.com without delay.

Disputes

Where a match is played and concluded and the players return to the clubhouse, the match results remain as agreed at that time.   This includes situations where there is a later dispute as to one player utilizing an incorrect handicap or where a rules infraction is recognized at a later time.   If in doubt as to what the ruling or procedure should be, then do not agree to the outcome at the end of the match prior to returning to the clubhouse.
