SCORING
This is a GROSS (no handicap) scoring Stroke Play Tournament over 2 days with scores from Day 1 carrying over to Day 2.
All Scoring will be via Golf Genius App utilizing the Digital Scorecard feature which provides for the Marker and Scorer to verify and digitally sign scorecards. Information on how to use the Digital Scorecard feature can be found here - Digital Scorecard Player Instructions - Golf Genius - YouTube. Please ensure you are familiar with the application before the day of the Tournament.
DRAW
The draw for Day 1 will be produced randomly by the Golf Genius Tournament Manager software. Changes may be made to accommodate some reasonable requests at the discretion of the Tournament Committee. Tee time change requests will only be accepted as a swap with another concurring player identified by the requestor. Husband and wives will not be paired together for cart sharing for this Tournament. This is normally done as a courtesy during the Monthly medals but for this Tournament it will not be done. We could place husband and wife at different tee times on request (one in morning (6:00am -7:50am), one in afternoon (11am-12:50pm) to facilitate sharing of a cart.
The draw for Day 2 will be produced by the Golf Genius Tournament Manager software in reverse order of day 1 gross score results (lowest score will tee off last). Male and female flights will be grouped separately. For Day 2, which is expected to only have a morning tee time , no accommodation for spousal cart sharing can be made. No changes will be allowed.
CONDITIONS OF PLAY
Play will be conducted according to the rules of the USGA, the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and Rolling Hills Golf Club Local Rules
This includes, per Rule 1.2a, that all players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by:
- Acting with integrity – by following the Rules, applying all penalties; and being honest in all aspects of play.
- Showing consideration to others – for example, by playing at a prompt pace, looking out for the safety of others, and not distracting the play of another player.
- Taking good care of the course – for example, by replacing divots, smoothing bunkers, repairing ball-marks, and not causing unnecessary damage to the course.
The below exceptions supersede the local rules of Rolling Hills Golf Club for the purposes of this Competition.
- You must be a member in good standing of Rolling Hills Golf Club, reached the age of 16 years and have an active USGA/WHS Handicap Index. A member in good standing is a member that has paid all the required yearly dues for the current year (2024).
- Local Rule 7 (Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball out of Bounds (E-5)) does not apply.
- The maximum score anyone can have on a hole is 2 x Par plus handicap strokes (otherwise known as double net par). Therefore, if you are on a Par 3 and receive a stroke, your maximum score is 7 for that hole. To improve pace of play, players should pick up their ball once they have reached the maximum score for a hole and record the maximum gross score in Golf Genius.
The Tournament Committee also is emphasizing the following rules for this event:
- Mandatory use of the Golf Genius App for Digital Scorecards by all competitors during the event. All players and markers must certify scores BEFORE they leave the golf course.
- Failure to tee-off at your scheduled time may result in disqualification subject to the Rule and the decision of the Committee. (Rule 5.3a)
The Committee in charge of the Competition reserves the right to
- Adjust the Playing Handicap of an entrant within the Terms of the Competition where there is evidence that the player’s Handicap Index does not reflect their demonstrated ability. Any adjustments or reviews will be coordinated with the Handicap Committee. For this Tournament, Competition Handicaps will be used.
PACE OF PLAY
Make your decisions on the shots you will make as quickly as you can (40 secs). This includes on the green. Maximum 3 Minutes searching for a golf ball. Please keep up with the group in front of you. Pace of Play guidelines will be printed on your scorecard. Please do your best to adhere to the recommended timing. Marshals may ask you to pick up your pace or ask you to allow a faster group behind to play through. Be respectful and obey the requests of the Marshal. Player(s) causing slow play during the round will be warned initially by the Marshal and then assessed a 1 stroke penalty for each subsequent warning.
