Welcome to the Inaugural RHGC Mixed Foursomes Championships
We are excited to welcome all RHGC members to the very first RHGC Mixed Foursomes Championships. This event celebrates teamwork, strategy, diversity and the spirit of friendly competition. Below you will find all the key information needed for a smooth and enjoyable tournament experience.
Competition Format
This is a Mixed Foursomes Net Stroke Play event played over 27 holes. Each team consists of one male and one female player who play alternate shots using one ball per team per hole. The team’s gross score over the 27 holes will be adjusted using their handicap allowance to determine the net score. The team with the lowest net score will be declared the champion.
For the first 18 holes, one player tees off the odd tees while the other tees off the even tees. Teams may choose to change their tee-off order for the final 9 holes (holes 19–27). The original alternate shot format remains, but teams can decide who tees off odd versus even for that final stretch.
Scoring Method
- Teams will record their gross score for each hole.
- The net score is calculated by subtracting the team’s handicap allowance from the total gross score over 27 holes.
Handicap
- The maximum individual 18-hole handicap is 26 for Men and 36 for Ladies.
- Teams will receive a handicap allowance equal to 50% of the combined course handicaps of the two players on the team.
Example Calculation:
- Player A Course Handicaps
- 18 holes – 12
- Front 9 holes – 6
- Player B Course Handicaps
- 18 holes – 24
- Front 9 holes – 12
- Average of Course Handicaps:
- 18 holes – 18
- Front 9 holes – 9
- Combined 27 Hole Course Handicap = 18 + 9 = 27
- Gross Team Score (27 holes): 134
- Net Score: 134 – 27 = 107 (equivalent to a 1 under round)
Tee Selection
- Men: White Tees
- Ladies: Red Tees
Rules
- The competition will follow the Rules of Golf as set by the R&A and USGA, along with local RHGC rules.
- No “gimme” putts – all putts must hole out (be careful not to incur a penalty by having the same player putt twice in a row).
- A team that fails to complete a hole will be disqualified from the competition.
Tiebreaker
In the event of a tie, the following countback method will be applied:
- Best net score over the last 9 holes (holes 19–27).
- If still tied, best last 6 holes (holes 22–27).
- Then best last 3 holes (holes 25–27).
- If still tied, best net score on the 27th hole, then the 26th hole, 25th hole, and on until a winning team is identified.
Pace of Play
- Please maintain a steady pace and keep up with the group ahead to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.
Prizes & Awards
- Trophies and Proshop Vouchers will be awarded to the teams finishing 1st – 3rd. There are no flights for this tournament.
Scorecard Submission
- All scoring will be done via the Golf Genius App. One player per team has to score for the other team, so in total two people per group need to submit scores. Failure to submit scores during the round may lead to a DQ. Please sign in using your GGID, not your email.
- Make sure both teams certify the scorecard at the end of the round. Failure to certify may result in disqualification.
- If a player does not show up, the team will be disqualified and the Tournament Director will try to find playing partners or a scorer for the other team.
- Need help? Watch the tutorial here.
- If you are unable to use the app, manual scorecards must be completed, signed, and submitted immediately after your round.
- Both team players and marker must sign the manual card for it to be valid.
